The past 19 months have seen several new developments at the Carbon County Economic Development Corporation.
In October 2021, we purchased our first vehicle from Skyline Motors in Rawlins. In January 2022, the CCEDC Board of Directors approved the hiring of an administrative assistant for 10 hours each week. Lastly, and most importantly, we launched our new, updated website at www.carbonwyedc.com!
One of the highlights of being Director is traveling throughout Carbon County to connect with businesses and discover the needs of the communities within the county. I have logged over 25,000 miles since starting in August 2020. During these travels, I attended town council meetings in each municipality in the county, met with business leaders and entrepreneurs, attended workshops and conferences, met with non-profit agencies and many other activities to spur economic development for Carbon County.
Twenty-three projects are currently in the works to assist or expand businesses, help retain existing businesses and nonprofits, or bring in new businesses to Carbon County. With the help of the CCEDC, grants have been awarded to the Sinclair Theater, the Hanna Fire Department for PPE, and the Elk Mountain Museum. There are still more opportunities for Carbon County on the horizon!
My travels have also taken me to several conferences and workshops that have elevated my understanding of economic development. These activities have helped me to create a network of resources and have allowed me to collaborate with people key to economic development.
The CCEDC hosted a Business Roundtable in March 2022 that brought together key stakeholders in Carbon County. The CCEDC plans to hold more of these roundtable events throughout Carbon County in the upcoming year.
